There are frequent protests outside of Hosei's campus, stemming from attempts to crack down on and censor left wing political groups a few years ago which resulted in arrests and imprisonments, allegedly for trespassing due to the involvement of non Hosei students joining the protests on a private campus. Last Friday there was a larger than normal demonstration, which the security guards felt meant they needed to try and match the protesters in manpower.
